Fashion inspired tattoos

Tattoos have been influencing and making their way into fashion for several seasons. Casual t-shirt lines like Lucky Brand Jeans & Ed Hardy made the trend popular, while reality tv shows have made tattoos mainstream. Over time, tattoos have even migrated to high end labels like Gucci, who recently joined in on the fun with their Tattoo Love collection. A four hundred dollar wristlet featuring a logo style formally associated with prisoners, gang members and military servicemen? Times they are a changin. With people from all walks of life sporting tattoos that represent hobbies, declarations of love or professions, it’s no wonder that a plethora of fashion-inspired tattoos have popped up. After all, just like inked skin, a love affair with style is forever.

1. Generic and showing no brand or particular garment loyalty, this vintage dress form tattoo shows off an appreciation for the creativity, passion and processes that go into producing the awe-inspiring designs that restore our faith in love at first sight. Source

2. Stiletto heels are racy and sometimes downright dominatrix. This gentleman (or at least we think he’s a gentleman) might enjoy wearing his own sexy pair or from the looks of this tattoo, perhaps he just likes them dug into his neck. Hey, to each his own… Source

3. Hottie Jason Preston declared his love for Marc Jacobs – the man, not the brand- by tattooing the famous logo on his forearm. The two were a couple at the time and now they are not. So what originated as a bad idea love tattoo, sadly turned into a bad idea brand name tattoo. Source

4. With the popularity of tattooed makeup, tattooing garments onto the body doesn’t seem so ridiculous. True to the style of many great feminine tattoos, this appropriately placed garter is pretty and naughty all at once. Source

5.Without a trusty sewing machine, there wouldn’t be any fashions to inspire. This designer pays homage to her very first 1950′s Kenmore machine with a bright and colorful piece that is assuredly just as beautiful as the pieces it creates. Source

6. While they’re definitely the detail du jour, bows seem to come and go in fashion. For this inked lady, they’re a forever favorite, adorning her thighs for a unexpected representation of girly whimsy. Source

7. Shoes and tattoos can easily become an addiction of sorts. Here these two addictions share the spotlight. A bold, graphic and psychedelic platform shoe allows the bearer to take a walk on the groovy side no matter where she goes. Source

8. Louis Vuitton has been the leader in luggage, handbags and luxury goods for centuries. As the most counterfeited brand to date, it’s safe to say that the House of LV has staying power….this girl seems to think so too. Source

9. Fashion is not limited to clothing and accessories. How you get your hair did is totally a reflection of your personal style. This hair designer wears their love for fabulous tresses on their sleeve…literally.

10.By far the most popular ‘brand love’ tattoo, Chanel’s interlocking C’s are seen on both male and female fashionistas alike. While we’re not big fans of the term fashionista, if you’re sporting a Chanel tattoo, you probably are. Source

11. It’s no secret that Lanvin loves bows. It’s also evident that this individual loves Lanvin, or at least we hope so, because this pretty, pearl-laced bow featuring the designers name, is here to stay for seasons to come. Source

12. Peter McBride maintains his preppy style even in his birthday suit. Ralph Lauren’s signature polo pony is perfectly placed on his chest for a permanent display of his devotion to the All-American brand. Source

13.In keeping with the chest logo theme, there’s the Lacoste tattoo. Second only to the polo pony in complete d-baggery, we’re just happy that he didn’t get a permanently popped collar inked around his neck. Source

14. Blue birds have long been a favorite tattoo subject and can be dated back to the original American ‘Sailor Jerry’ style. Here, a love for traditional tattoos and old fashioned sewing comes together with this piece featuring a helpful little birdie. Source

15. No matter what this little lady has on her feet, she’ll always have her killer red high heels. Exaggerated and cartoon-like, this shoe tattoo – that also features a cute bow detail – is simply adorable.
